Abstract

How We Got Here

The quintessence of human thought lies in religion. Throughout the ages, one aspect of life seems to pervade human thought, seemingly inherent to it: questioning the unknown. Religion, encompassing a respective mythology and boundaries regarding morality, serves a variety of purposes: providing fulfillment, optimism, closure, and faithful sincerity. Throughout history, a multitude of topics concerning religion have been examined: polytheism, monotheism, the similarities between different religions, the social view of religion, mythologies from different continents, personal accounts regarding religion, etc. Giving a sense of belonging to individuals around the globe, religion has and will continue to serve a divine, otherworldly purpose: solving the unknown.
